Chris Stinson

Producer · Concord, New Hampshire, USA

Chris Stinson is a Producer and Line Producer who aims to work with kind human beings. He is from New Hampshire and is a wicked die-hard Red Sox fan who likes making films in New England and some of them have garnered critical acclaim like Sound Of Metal (Six Oscar Nominations and Two Wins), Knives Out (Oscar Nominated), and The Holdovers (Five Oscar Nominations and One Win). Most recently a couple more made-in-Massachusetts films include The Drama (Zendaya and Robert Pattinson with Square Peg and A24) and the Untitled Anthony Bourdain Film (A24 and Star Thrower). Both will be coming to a theater near you in 2026, if theaters still exist. Before the California Tax Credit was hard to get Chris spent his first 22 years making films primarily in Los Angeles but then hit the road to see what the rest of the planet has to offer and made films all over the place like Somewhere In Queens (NYC) with Ray Romano, the Untitled Trey Parker Film with the South Park team (Denver and Wyoming), Suncoast with Laura Linney, Nico Parker and Woody Harrelson and Searchlight Pictures (Charleston, South Carolina), the untitled Alexander Payne film with Zentropa and Netflix (Sweden, Denmark, Ohio and Canada) oh and Night Always Comes, another Netflix film (Portland, Oregon) with some amazing Brits like Ben Caron, Jodie Caron and Lauren Dark. He has worked on over 35 narrative feature films and many of his other films including Leave No Trace, Low Down, Me and You and Everyone We Know and Chronic, have gone on to win awards at film festivals like Sundance and Cannes and several have been nominated for Best Feature at the Independent Spirit Awards. In 2005 he was chosen to participate in the Film Independent Producing Lab led by the amazing Josh Welsh and in 2010 he won the Van McLeod film award, named after his NH based mentor. He studied film production at Lyndon State College and Columbia College Chicago but highly recommends watching Lars Von Trier's The Five Obstructions if you want the expedited version of how to make a great film. His production company Live Free Or Die Films has several feature films in development and his spirit animals are Mister Rogers and Billy Jack.

Percentiles are each film's standing among all films on MovieCove; the typical film is the median, so one outlier cannot drag it. Percentiles and reviewer scores count the films IMDb credits them on, for now; the Midcredits score bands, the shape of the crowd and the two cards count their MovieCove titles, shows included (a show ranked among shows), appearances as themselves left out. A descriptor is the shape of a title's IMDb rating distribution against the catalog; "most divisive" needs a spread wider than half of all titles, and a card names only a principal credit: a craft role, and on a show a crew role or a run of episodes, never a courtesy credit or a one-off guest spot.
